Las Vegas Sevens Highlights!

A full weekend of Rugby and celebration here in Vegas.  Starting with a Parade of Nations on Thursday night in Downtown Vegas.

Friday saw the Rise of Rugby event at Sam Boyd Stadium.  Rugby & sport luminaries included former Scotland Captain & British & Irish Lions player Gavin Hastings,  former England Captain and President of the RFU Jason Leonard,  and Rugby Hall of Fame inductee Waisale Serevi.  Attendees were then able mix and chat with forum participants.  Action on the field started with pool play in the afternoon and went late.

On Saturday bleary-eyed spectators recovering from a late Friday night were treated to the end of pool play and into the playoff round.  The weather conditions started to deteriorate with colder temps and increasing winds.

Into  Sunday with VERY un-Vegas-like weather…cold wind and rain. Players battled the wind as well with well-placed passed suddenly becoming forward passes and kicks going awry.  Play was done and off to The Pub for the after-party!

Shout outs to:

Game on Glove – these folks came to LV 7’s to market their customizable drinking vessel.  Originating from hockey they are expanding into rugby…

Tru-Cutt Precision Cutting Tools – they sponsored the espresso bar at the try zone tent, and were a great to hang out with during the weekend.

Rugby Partners & British American Business Council – for putting on The Rise of Rugby event, and creating a great atmosphere for discussing the future of rugby in the US.
